Jeep Patriot: International Web Campaign
JEEP’S LITTLE BIG PATRIOT STORY
Web agency, Organic, Inc. approached us with an interesting challenge of creating an interactive web experience for the 2009 Jeep Patriot international campaign. The task was to create eight :10 second animations which could be interchangeably strung together, to form a “choose your own adventure” test drive.
But, this wasn’t your typical day behind the wheel. Conceptually, this was drawn from the imagination of one driver’s recollection of the most amazing test drive experience. Ever see Sasquatch, a giant octopus, hundreds of colored frogs, and a cloud of singing locusts while on the road?
Our aim was to create a picture which represented a stretch of the imagination. Over a week was dedicated to creating elements, scenes and characters from found objects and materials. Providing the viewer with scenes created with familiar materials made the worlds appear imaginable, despite how surreal they were.
The production process included table top shoots of scene miniatures and source elements, still and stop motion. Scenes were composited with added cell animation and CG elements. The client provided a CAD model of the vehicle which we streamlined the geometry and textured. The CG lighting of the car was designed to match the same set-up as our constructed scenes.
Our talented friends Hugh Barton, Sean Holt and Ryan Amen from Glue Audio, created an original score adding a rich texture of sound throughout.
